Policies

Editorial Policy

NJPH is a member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and follows the ethical guidelines endorsed by these organizations. We also adhere to the best editorial practices as outlined by the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Policies on Conflict of Interest

All authors, peer reviewers, editors, and editorial staff must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the article and publication process. Authors are encouraged to use the Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure Form developed by ICMJE, known as the Uniform Disclosure Form for Potential Conflicts of Interest, available at ICMJE.

Human and Animal Rights Policy

Research must adhere to rigorous ethical standards. Manuscripts may be rejected on ethical grounds, even if ethics committee approval has been obtained.

Human Rights

Studies involving human participants must comply with the WMA Declaration of Helsinki and have appropriate ethics committee approval. The manuscript should include the ethics committee's name and reference number. Studies exempt from ethical approval must clearly indicate this in the manuscript. Supporting documentation should be available upon request. Manuscripts may be rejected if research is deemed ethically inconsistent.

Animal Rights

Manuscripts reporting animal research must confirm ethical review and approval, including the name of the approving body. Research must adhere to institutional, national, or international guidelines and ideally obtain ethics committee approval. Manuscripts should disclose any exemptions from ethics approval. Authors are encouraged to follow the ARRIVE guidelines and relevant national guidelines.

Case Report

Do not include patient identifiers in visual materials. Obtain consent using the Case Report Consent Form and retain it with the patient's medical records. Provide a copy upon request.

Informed Consent

Informed consent must be obtained from all study participants or their legal guardians and indicated in the published article. Consent is required for all personally identifiable data. Editors may request evidence of consent.

Advertising Policy

NJPH does not endorse products or services marked as advertisements. The journal does not accept or publish advertising articles. Editorial content and manuscript decisions are independent of sponsorship or advertisements.

Process of Handling Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Expressions of Concern

NJPH follows ICMJE recommendations and COPE guidelines for the conduct, reporting, editing, and publication of scholarly work.

Corrections

Errors in published articles may be corrected by issuing a corrigendum or erratum. Corrections will appear as new articles and cite the original article. Corrections should be immediate and clearly indicated, with corrected versions available upon request.

Retraction

Retraction can occur after proper investigation, based on advice from the scholarly community, following COPE and ICMJE guidelines. Retraction notes will be published in subsequent issues, linked to the original article, and the article will be marked as retracted.

Editorial Expressions of Concern

If substantial doubt arises about the authenticity of research or the integrity of an article, an expression of concern may be issued. This should be linked to the original article and used only if investigations have not yielded results.

These policies help maintain the integrity and ethical standards of NJPH, ensuring that the research published is of the highest quality and adheres to international ethical guidelines.
